Legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram expressed his displeasure at former Pakistan players who refused to apply for the national team's head coach role through the channels established by the PCB.
According to reports, former players Mohsin Khan and Aaqib Javed refused to be interviewed by a panel comprising of Akram and former skipper Ramiz Raja that was set up to find a suitable candidate to coach the national side.
Mohsin, who briefly took the charge as head coach in 2012, reportedly said he would not send his application to the committee because they were his 'juniors' while Aaqib refused to apply because he thought the committee were set on hiring a foreign coach.
Speaking to a local news channel, Akram, without naming the players, questioned their attitude and expressed how one can expect them to work well with the Pakistan team with such mindset, the Dawn reported.
After weeks of rumbling, Pakistan on Friday appointed former South African cricketer Mickey Arthur as the successor of Waqar Younis, who stepped down from the position following a disastrous World Twenty20 campaign in India last month.
