Calls for England cricket team Captain Alistair Cook to step down from captaincy are growing louder with his dismal performance in the last two test series that England played against Sri Lanka and India.

According to News.com.au, Geoffrey Boycott wrote in The Telegraph that Cook's form is an embarrassment for the team and puts undue pressure on other team members. He also added that the captain should step down from the position on his own if he fails twice in the second test match which is scheduled to begin at Lord's on Thursday.

It has been more than a year and 25 test innings since Cook struck his last century, the report added.
