All opposition parties to move Vote of No-Confidence Motion in session tomorrow: Kharge

Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said that all opposition parties have come to a consensus to move the Vote of No-Confidence Motion in the monsoon session, which commences on Wednesday.

While addressing a press conference here, Kharge said, "All opposition parties have come to a consensus to move the Vote of No-Confidence Motion in the session."

The Congress leader further said that the government tries to avoid the important issues brought by the opposition by disrupting the session.

Kharge said, "Articles and editorials written state that opposition doesn't allow to run the Parliament. PM too reiterates the same. But the truth is, whenever we bring up important issues, govt tries to avoid it by disrupting the session."

Opposition leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Tariq Anwar, have written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, saying that the opposition has been very decent and dignified in its conduct, which is verifiable from records of the House and it is the ruling party which is denigrating Constitution and lowering dignity of the House and Chair.

He further said that the opposition is looking forward to raise some important issues like India's worsening foreign policy, rupee devaluation, special status to Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming Parliament session.

"Monsoon session of the Parliament commences tomorrow. To make this session a success, we will support the govt. We hope we will be allowed to bring up important issues of the nation," the Congress leader said.

"India's worsening foreign policy, rupee devaluation, special status to Andhra Pradesh etc. are some important issues we are looking forward to raise in the upcoming Parliament session," he added.

He also said, "Government is trying to abolish the reservation policy in universities' vacant faculty positions. We will be raising this issue in the upcoming session."

Kharge said that opposition wants to discuss issues related to lynching, cow vigilantism and felicitating lynchers during the session.

"Lynching, cow vigilantism and felicitating lynchers has become a norm across the country. We want to discuss this issue during this session," he said.

He also said, "We want to discuss about the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, to strengthen and restore it."

Meanwhile, the monsoon session of Parliament will begin tomorrow and will continue till August 10.

The session will have 18 sittings. During the session, Triple Talaq Bill, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha and is pending in the Rajya Sabha, will be among the top priorities of the government to pass it.

The government will also push for constitutional status for the National Commission for OBCs. Other bills including the National Medical Commission Bill and the Transgender persons (Protection of Rights) Bill will also be taken up during the session.
