Senior IPS officer Alok Verma, a 1979- batch IPS officer of the Union Territories cadre, will be the next Commissioner of the Delhi Police.
Verma, who serving as the director general of prisons in the national capital, would replace Police Commissioner B.S Bassi. He would take charge on March 1.
According to reports, DG (Prisons) Alok Kumar Verma, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Unit) Dharmendra Kumar and Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deepak Mishra were in the race for the city's top cop job.
