Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson M J Akbar said here today that if the United Sates (US) sends its military advisors to help Iraq amid the ongoing terrorist violence in the country, then it will have a tremendous impact on the emerging geo-political situation in the world's most volatile region.

"I think this is a very radical departure from the geo-politics of the last three decades ever since the U.S.-Iran relationship collapsed. This radical new situation is going to bring American military advisors, Bagdad already has Iranian military advisors on the ground so the situation has developed to a point where American military advisors will be cooperating, whether they explicitly admit it or they don't," said Akbar.

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Thursday that he will be sending 300 military advisors to Iraq to help its army fight the terrorists who have been creating tensions in the country since Sunday, especially in its Mosul and Tirkit areas.

"This will have a tremendous impact on the emerging geo-political situation in the world's most volatile region," he added

Around 40 Indian nationals are stuck there, including Punjabi workers and few nurses from Kerala.

The Ministry of External Affairs is dealing with the situation on a high priority basis. Not only had it tracked the location of stranded Indians but it has also introduced a 24*7 helpline for them.
