Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan promoted his debut television series, 'Yudh', by ringing the opening bell at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
"I believe that every creative decision that we take, there is some sort of worry in our minds. There will be anxiety, there will be a feeling of apprehension whether the new venture will prove positive or not. But, if we keep sitting silent because of fear then everything goes wrong. So, I have always tried to ensure that any job I take, I work with full confidence because if I don't, some or the other problem will crop up," said Bachchan.
After ringing the bell, Bachchan registered the company, Shanti Constructions Pvt. Ltd - owned by his character in 'Yudh' - with the BSE.
"I don't worry about things like whether my stature is increasing or decreasing. All I worry about is how the audience will react to my decisions," added Bachchan.
Dominating Indian cinema for over four decades, Bachchan is no stranger to television. Having hosted several seasons of the Indian version of the quiz show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", this will be Bachchan's first role in a television fiction series.
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will direct the TV series, which will have a finite number of episodes.
Kashyap had said in a statement that the series will change the way India sees television and will open the doors for a new genre in television entertainment.
Bollywood stars are increasingly turning to television for more visibility and as an alternative to a movie career, hoping to cash in on an audience hungry to see more of their favourite actors.
