Amitabh Bachchan recently came out in support for the flood victims of Kashmir and Assam with a charity campaign called "HUM HAIN... Ummeed-e-Kashmir" in New Delhi.
The 72-year-old legendary actor appealed to all the citizens of the country to contribute to the cause.
Speaking at the event, Bachchan said, "As human beings and as Indians we need to do all that we can help our countrymen in need. The plight of the people of Jammu and Kashmir has always been a matter of concern and the floods have only made it worse".
He continued that he felt bad whenever he witnessed such horrific disasters during the course of his career, however Bollywood had always stood united for the cause and contributed towards it.
The 'Bhootnath Returns' star is the frontrunner of the campaign led by Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEE).
Film producer Mukesh Bhatt, president of Film and Television Producers Guild, Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal and Punit Goenka, MD and CEO, ZEE also marked their attendance at the event.
Celebs namely Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Sonu Nigam, Gulzar, and Vishal Bhardwaj among others will also perform at a concert at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 18th October, 2014 to show their support.
