South Africa cricket captain Hashim Amla believes that his team has been well equipped to continue winning matches as they go through a 'transition' period.

Speaking on the eve of the first Test against the West Indies at SuperSport Park, South Africa's first home Test since the retirement of star players Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith, Amla said that there was enough experience in the team to enable new players to settle into their roles.

Amla claimed that it has been very exciting, adding that they always knew when Kallis and Smith retire they would have to go through a transition period, Sport24 reported.

Fortunately, he added that there are quite a few of them who have played international cricket for quite a long time, to keep the core of the team together and for the culture of the team to continue.

Amla claimed that when they retire the young players who have come in would have to take the team forward. He added that they really hope the young guys who are in the system gain as much knowledge and experience as possible.

The skipper said that one wants to make the transition as natural as possible but added that there's an element of hard work in every relationship.

Amla claimed that one has got to pass on what one has learnt, what the South Africans stand for and the most important factor is to continue winning cricket matches.
