Amul has hiked its milk prices by a rupee per pouch of both half and one litre in the Delhi-NCR region.
The new rates will be effective from tomorrow.
The decision was taken as the procurement prices have increased by around 20 per cent in last two years.
Now with the increase in milk prices, Amul double tonned half litre pouch will be available at Rs. 18, Amul toned at Rs. 20 for half litre and Rs. 39 for one litre.
While, Amul Gold will be available at Rs. 25 for half litre packet and Rs. 49 for one litre, Amul Diamond (full cream premium milk) will cost Rs. 26 for half litre.
Amul sells about 30 lakh litres of milk per day in the Delhi-NCR region.
The dairy industry in India has witnessed a long period of stable milk prices primarily on account of weak global prices of skimmed milk powder (SMP) and huge inventory of SMP back home due to lack of export opportunity.
