In his forthcoming film 'Rough Book', film-maker and actor Ananth Mahadevan has paid a very subtle tribute to one of his favourite filmmakers of the West, the highly-acclaimed Woody Allen.
The director's upcoming film stars Tannishtha Chatterjee as a Physics teacher and one of the students in her class, sports spectacles like the Hollywood filmmaker and is even named Woody in the film.
Mahadevan however reveals that in the initial script there was no such character at all.
He says, "There was no character named Woody on paper. But when I was casting, I met this boy and he instantly reminded me of the filmmaker, for whom I have immense respect. So, we asked him to keep his specs on and even named him Woody as a tribute to Woody Allen."
The film also stars Amaan Khan in lead roles with Joy Sengupta, Jayati Bhatia and Vinay Jain in supporting roles.
