Indian golf ace Anirban Lahiri is excited to make his first start in the World Golf Championships at Doral this week after jumping to 34th in the world rankings following two wins last month.
And the Asian Tour number one hopes his debut at the Cadillac Championship signals the start of greater things in America as he dreams of becoming his homeland's first major winner.
Lahiri said that it's quite amazing so much has changed, adding that he didn't expect to be in this situation that he is in now. He claimed that he is happy it has come and it's a fantastic time, insisting that he is at a point in his career where he hopes to move westward and the wins have helped, Sport24 reported.
Lahiri, who won the Malaysian Open and Indian Open in a span of three weeks, claimed that he is excited.
He has won four titles in the past 10 months, and his ranking now puts him in position to play all four majors and grab a spot for the International team in this year's Presidents Cup. This week would give Lahiri a test of how he stands against the US PGA elite.
Lahiri said that there would be a lot of firsts for him, adding that he is really eager for all that. He claimed that it's exciting times ahead and he would approach them in a similar manner, insisting that he is trying to get better every day and would continue to work hard at improving his skills.
The Indian golfer said that one of the main things is to gain the experience of playing in the Majors and WGCs, playing well in them and in different conditions, adding that it's all about learning as he goes along and hopefully maybe he can get into the top-10 and vie for the number one spot.
