An anonymous gambler has bet 1,00,000 pounds on defending champion Andy Murray to claim the Wimbledon trophy for men's singles.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes said that it was the biggest ever wager on Murray to win at the All England Club
Murray stands to win 4,50,000 pounds at odds of 7/2, the Mirror reported.
Jessica Bridge, spokeswoman for Ladbrokes, said that over the years there has been this magnitude of bets on the likes of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, but this is the first monster bet on Murray.
Bridge said that it is early days, but a second Wimbledon victory for Murray could see the industry fork out a record 20 million pounds.
Murray's popularity has skyrocketed among British fans after winning the Wimbledon title for the first time in 2013, the report added.
