Two times Academy and Grammy award winner AR Rahman has today released a unique composition titled 'The Flying Lotus', a 19-minute music piece in collaboration with the internationally renowned Seattle Symphony.
Conducted by RICARDO AVERBACH, the music is AR Rahman's interpretation of a historical phase in India when the government announced demonetization on November 8, 2016.
Talking about working with Seattle Symphony, AR Rahman said, "I think it's a dream to always work with a great orchestra like Seattle Symphony and I have worked with a lot of orchestras before. They were in talks with me for 3 months and then demonetization happened. So I interpreted the whole idea of India rising and what India is going through because this cannot be explained to everyone. This challenge was do it as a symphonic piece."
Devraj Sanyal, MD & CEO Universal Music Group India & South Asia, shared, "We're elated to release this stunning new piece of work from AR Rahman! Along with the Seattle Symphony, he has created magic on 'The Flying Lotus'. This is music that will transcend boundaries way beyond our shores and we at UMG India are extremely proud to present this latest masterpiece from A R Rahman to the world through the global UMG network."
While the 19-minute track is the showpiece on the album, the listener is taken on a scintillating journey through 8 shorter pieces of 'The Flying Lotus' that culminates in the epic 19-minute piece. This is the maestro at his best, in collaboration with multiple award winning and America's leading symphony - Seattle Symphony.
AR Rahman's, 'The Flying Lotus' is available Worldwide on physical and digital formats exclusively on Universal Music Group.
