Indian Army's Chinar Corps on Tuesday inaugurated a Super 30 (Medical) educational center to help students from economically weaker sections crack the medical entrance examinations.

Students appearing for medical entrance exams like MBBS, AIIMS and NEET will get an opportunity to study in this educational center.

Under this initiative, the students will get coaching and guidance for a period of twelve months for entrance examinations of various Medical Colleges spread across India.

The prestigious center which is located at Srinagar was inaugurated by Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General A.K. Bhatt in the presence of selected students.

He said that the selected students will look forward to this opportunity which is going to benefit them in their future.

"I believe the children will do well. For a year, our aim was to engage the youth and bring them to the mainstream," Bhatt said while speaking to ANI.

The programme is being executed with the help of a Kanpur based NGO, National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO). The NGO will provide the faculty members with things related to academics whereas the Army would oversee the administration, logistics and infrastructure part of it.

Also, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) would provide the center with adequate funding on an annual basis.

"More and more schemes like this should come up for those students whose family can't provide them with a strong financial backing," said Amiruddin, a student chosen for this initiative.

"I want to thank Indian Army, I want to thank NIEDO also for providing such kind of opportunity for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir who had been fully distracted from studies during the disturbances in the valley," added another student, Mir.

The inauguration is a part of Army's sustained initiative to secure a better future for the Kashmiri youth.

On March17, the Indian Army under the aegis of Chinar Corps signed a Memorandums of Understanding with corporate partner Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and training partner National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation for this purpose.

After the MoU was signed, NIEDO carried out an exhaustive selection process across Jammu and Kashmir by conducting written examination for over 1400 students.

It was followed by screening tests and interviews of the 170 shortlisted students. Finally, only 30 were selected.
