Former national coach Mickey Arthur has wished the new Australian team well but will keep a respectful distance in Perth this weekend, according to reports.

According to News.com.au, Arthur has not crossed paths with the side since he was sacked and replaced by Darren Lehmann at the start of the Ashes tour in England.

He will be at the WACA on Friday to commentate on radio for the third Test, the report said.

While he would have no qualms about seeing the players, Arthur, out of respect for the new set-up, will not be approaching the players so any meeting will be by chance rather than design, the report added.

Arthur said that he was really happy for the team and this is how he wanted the boys to perform, adding that Mitchell Johnson had done a great job.

Arthur has settled in Perth and now he his own cricket academy and is linking with the Western Force rugby union franchise, the report further said.
