Arun Jaitley cautions Shiv Sena, calls for restrained approach

Asserting that the BJP does not encourage intolerance in the country, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday attempted to downplay the Shiv Sena's attack on the BCCI headquarters aimed at disrupting the India-Pakistan cricket talks and said that there is a need to convey the opinions and differences in a more restrained manner.

"I think this applies equally to all. We will all have to have a same standard whether it's somebody belonging to a political opposition or somebody belonging to a political friend. I think the fact that we have to convey our opinions and even our differences in a more restrained manner is something which all of us have to realize," Jaitley told the media here.

The Finance Minister said nobody in the BJP has resorted to these methods.

"Two or three (people) made some statements on sensitive issues and the party president has very strongly taken it up with them. The Prime Minister has conveyed his views. And, therefore, all of them have been spoken to and I sure all our spokesmen have been conducting themselves in accordance with the spirit," he added.

The Shiv Sena's move to barge into the BCCI office yesterday to protest against India-Pakistan cricket matches has been widely criticized.
