Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a destructive four-wicket spell limiting the United Arab Emirates to post a meager total of 102 runs that helped pave the way for India's stunning nine-wicket win over the World Cup minnows on Saturday in Perth.

Opting to bat first, the UAE were bundled out in 31.2 overs to post the lowest total of this year's tournament. Openers Amjad Ali (4) and Andri Berenger (4) failed to provide the initial thrust as both were caught behind by Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav deliveries.

Ashwin, who was named the Player of the match, benefitted most from the pitch as he unleashed his spinning best to claim wickets of Krishna Chandran (4), Khurram Khan (14), Swapnil Patil (7) and Mohammad Navid(6).

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also claimed two wickets to support the revitalized bowling department substantially.

Shaiman Anwar, who smacked a brisk ton against Ireland, was the only batsman to show some resilience as he scored 35 runs off 49 balls before being bowled out by Yadav.

In response, India chased down a paltry target of 102 in the 19th over as big-hitting batsman Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 57 and 33 runs respectively.

Shikhar Dhawan, who made a century against South Africa last week, fell prey to a Naveed's delivery for 14 runs.

With the win, India stand clear at the top of Pool B table with six points and will next take on the West Indies on March 6 in Perth.
