Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticised the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) Government for not attending to the needs of people of Bundelkhand region.
Addressing a rally at Hamirpur, Gandhi said the voices of the people of Bundelkhand does not reach Lucknow, but certainly reaches Delhi.
"If we need to bring change here then we have to work more intensely. We have to connect the world with Bundelkhand. Ask your government to bring Bangalore to Bundelkhand," he added, while asserting that the Congress Governments worked to computerize Bangalore.
He also highlighted the crucial bills being brought under the UPA Government's tenure.
"Who brought in the RTI act? We guaranteed that not a person in India goes to sleep without food, we brought the Food Security. We brought the 'Rozgar' scheme, through that scheme lakhs and crores of people got employment," said Gandhi.
Gandhi said the Samajwadi Party made all kinds of promises when it came into government.
"If you want jobs, you have to go elsewhere, even for education and medical check-up. You have a young chief minister who can bring change, but Bundelkhand is not part of his vision," said Gandhi.
"Nothing can be done alone here. Give power to the Congress. Whatever help you require from Delhi, we are there to help you. The Congress wants to industrialize this place, we have a vision," he added.
This is the first of his two rallies in the state today, as part of his campaign for the national elections due by May.
This is Gandhi's second visit to Uttar Pradesh in October.
He had earlier this month visited Aligarh and Rampur where he criticised the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for engineering communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in which over 40 people were killed.
