Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was discharged on Monday from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital after being treated for stomach-related problems.
Gogoi, who was admitted in the hospital yesterday, was reportedly suffering from constipation-related issues.
Although he was fit to go home on Sunday, Gogoi stayed at the hospital and underwent some further tests.
Governor P. B. Acharya visited the hospital yesterday to enquire about his health and wished him speedy recovery.
82-year old Gogoi, who had undergone multiple surgeries including a by-pass in 2010, holds record of being the Assam Chief Minister for three consecutive terms since 2001.
He had only recently headed the hectic campaign of the Congress Party in the just-concluded state assembly elections during which he toured the entire state.
