Asserting that his government would not compromise on national security and integrity, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday said few men were arrested from the state's Barpeta district based on evidence linking them with Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

"Yes, there are few people we have arrested, we have got evidence also on the basis of which we have arrested them," said Gogoi while reacting to the arrest of Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh linkmen from Barpeta district in connection with the blast in West Bengal's Burdwan district.

The Assam Chief Minister said that his government was co-operating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on this issue.

"We are co-operating with the NIA from the very first day...it will be easier for the NIA to go to the origin," he added

Gogoi also pointed that his government would deal firmly against those found indulging in anti-national activities in the state.

"Those who are indulging in all sorts of anti-national activities or terrorist activities should be brought to book, they should be punished. We are vigilant," he said.

When asked to comment about the activities of ISI and al-Qaeda, Gogoi said: "We are very much concerned about it. We are taking all the measures. We will not allow ISI or anybody to have a strong base. We will

not compromise on national security and integrity.
