As the deadlock over government formation in Delhi continues, former chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday urged Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to call an all-party meeting at the earliest.
"I appeal to LG to call for an all-party meeting today itself if he is clear on his intentions," he said.
Kejriwal asked the Lieutenant Governor to take a final decision by this evening and inform the Supreme Court tomorrow.
"From the last eight months, we are repeatedly requesting to the LG to call for an all-party meeting. All the three parties should be called and asked personally," he added.
The AAP chief also criticized the Lieutenant Governor, saying the latter is desperate to make sure that the BJP forms the government in Delhi.
"He himself wrote a letter to the President seeking permission to form the BJP government. At last when he got the permission, then he is not ready for even that," he added.
The AAP chief also expressed confidence that his party would get majority if fresh polls are held in Delhi.
"The BJP and LG are playing dirty politics with the people of Delhi," he said.
Efforts are on to install the government in Delhi, which is under President's rule with the assembly under suspended animation. According to reports, President Pranab Mukherjee has given his nod to the Lieutenant Governor's proposal to invite the BJP to form the government in Delhi. There are reports suggesting that the Lieutenant Governor will explore the possibilities of government formation with leaders of all political parties over the next few days.
The Supreme Court had earlier criticized the Centre and the Lieutenant Governor for delaying a decision to form the government in the national capital.
The BJP has been maintaining that it will take a decision on government formation in Delhi only after getting an invite from the Lieutenant Governor.
Delhi has been under President's rule since Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister on February 14 after being in office for 49 days.
The BJP won 31 seats in the 70-member house while the AAP emerged victorious in 28 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls held last year.
