New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): British cosmetics and skin care company The Body Shop which is celebrating its 40th birthday this year has unveiled a new plan to become the world's most ethical and sustainable global business.
Enrich not Exploit, that's the mantra of this company, The Body Shop which believes in introducing a 100 percent vegetarian line of skincare, bringing beauty recipes from nature as well as innovative range of fragrances which captures the essence of rare, precious, living scents, while leaving the nature untouched.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Christopher Davis, Director of International Corporate Responsibility and Campaigns, The Body Shop International said: "We have set ourselves ambitious, inspiring and measurable targets for our commitment. We are developing new practices to enrich the planet in which we operate whilst helping our company grow and prosper. Our new commitment combines the experience and knowledge of our expert people with new advances in science and technology."
Talking on the concept of Bio-Bridges, a new initiative to protect and regenerate 75 millionsquare metres of damaged habitats and help communities to live more sustainably, Davis said: "The bio-bridge is a link between two areas of rain forest. If two areas of rain forest is cut off due to tree felling than we make a corridor so that animals can move and their gene-pool is protected and enhanced. So each time a customer comes to the Body Shop to buy from us, we will be building a metre square of bio-bridge."
Davis further added that the company is looking for new innovations which will ultimately have a positive impact on the planet.
The CEO of The Body Shop Jeremy Schwartz said the new commitment will reaffirm The Body Shop position as a leader in ethical business and will define the next stage of development of the Body Shop business.
"For us, being truly sustainable means shaping our business to work in line with the planet's natural systems so they can replenish and restore themselves. We have set ourselves a significant goal to be the world's most ethical and truly sustainable global business," Schwartz said.
