Chief Election Officer Sunil Kujur on Saturday said at least 12 persons had been killed in two separate incidents by Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
"While our polling party was returning from Kutru base camp in Bijapur District, some of the jawans felt tired and hence they got into a bus. As per our information, which we have got, it says that there was a blast which led to the death of six people on the spot and five of those were injured, were brought to the hospital. There is news of one person who was injured has also died, succumbing to his injuries. So, there is a total of seven people who have died in total in this incident, while four injured," Kujur said.
He also stated the fact there was still information awaited as to the number of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) were there in the bus where the blast took place.
"We do not know how many EVM machines were there in the bus, so we are awaiting details about that exactly. Exact knowledge about the number of people has not been confirmed," Kujur added.
The Chief Election Officer also stated that in a separate incident in Darbha also there was a blast and information suggested that atleast five jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been killed.
