Australia's cricket captain Michael Clarke has insisted that his team's current focus is not the Ashes, but on winning the Champions Trophy starting on June 8 in England, as he believes victory in the one-day tournament will boost the team's chances of regaining the Ashes.

Clarke and his squad left for England on an exhausting four-month campaign, looking forward to concentrate on cricket, News.com.au reports.

While Clarke acknowledged that it is unlikely that the Ashes does not dominate the talks in UK and Australia, he wants the players not to focus on the first Ashes test starting on July 10 until after the Champions Trophy ends towards the end of June.

Clarke said that the public is interested in talking about Ashes, as it is the pinnacle for the Australian cricket team to play not only in Test cricket, but in the Ashes.

Clarke admitted that the players have got good training and are fit for some stupendous batting and bowling performances and will attract the public as well as the media to enjoy some good cricket as they are prepared for the challenge.

Clark also said that he believes that his team's indomitable record in the Champions Trophy and their last chance at the tournament this year will motivate the players enough for victory which will further drive the confidence and momentum into the first Test.

This year being one of the most eventful cricket seasons for Australia, Clark is aware that the team will need consistency and said that it is good for the players to be doubted as he believes it inspires them to reach great levels as a team.
