The current hunt for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 in the remote and vast area of the Indian Ocean could take months, warned an Australian official today.
According to the Daily Express, the official said that the search was progressing well but due to the vast patch of the Indian Ocean that is being covered, it could last for months.
Peter Foley, an Australian search coordinator, said there is positivity with two ships using high-tech sonar devices to search for the Boeing 777.
He also said that since the weather is improving, they hope to cover as much area as possible.
The debris field could be found any day but due to the large area being covered, it could take 'many months', said Foley.
Australian officials had earlier said that the search could even take up to one year.
Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared in March while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.
