Australian retailer 'Target' had reportedly bought clothes from the Bangladeshi garment factory, which burned down on Tuesday night killing seven workers, last month.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the order books recovered from the burned factory showed the names of the factory's clients for September, which included Target Australia, U.S. brand Gap, British retailer Next, Swedish fashion label H and M and French supermarket Carrefour.
The fire incident at the Aswad Composite Mills in Gazipur is the latest in a string of disasters to hit Bangladeshi garment factories.
The Aswad factory is owned by the Palmal Group of Companies, which is Bangladesh's largest textile and garment firm that produces clothes for sale all over the world, the report added.
Meanwhile, Woolworths accepted it may also have sourced fabric from the same factory, if their orders were pending with the Palmal.
A Target spokesman said the company did not have any direct contractual relationship with Aswad, but one of Target's registered Bangladesh suppliers bought fabric from the factory for garment production.
