In a bid to avoid hassle of keeping change, auto-rickshaw aggregator Jugnoo has introduced the facility of empowering auto-rickshaw drivers to recharge the customers' Paytm wallet to address the issue of returning change after completing the ride.
It is a handy feature for the customers as they would no longer have to worry about carrying the change with them as the driver can recharge their Paytm wallet with the balance money.
This option would also provide the auto-rickshaw drivers with access to instant cash that will be deducted from their revenue generated from Jugnoo app. The drivers are enabled to initiate the recharge through a feature on the app where they would need to feed in the customer's phone number. As soon as the recharge process is initiated by the driver, the customers get a confirmation message on their phone. The recharge is processed as soon as the customers agree to the confirmation notification sent to them.
Samar Singla, founder and CEO at Jugnoo, said: "It is an interesting feature that we have been contemplating for the last couple of months. We came up with the idea based on the customer feedback and the challenges faced by auto-rickshaw drivers across the regions we operate in. Most of the customers do not tender exact change to the drivers and hence either the driver or the customer would invariably let go the change. This features takes care of the change issue from customer perspective and provides an opportunity for drivers to get access to instant cash."
Reacting to the development Paytm said: "This is an innovative concept targeted towards empowering the auto-rickshaw drivers and widening their horizons. This association with Jugnoo will enable us to evolve our markets furthermore and have a ready access to Jugnoo's three million customer base."
Jugnoo, a Chandigarh based company, was established in the year 2014. It has ventured into the industry as one of the leading auto-rickshaw aggregators with 30,000 people transacting per day. It is a mobile app offering one of the largest networks of auto-rickshaws in India. It has over 10,000 autos empanelled under the brand at present.
