Baba Ramdev accuses Nehru-Gandhi family of usurping India's wealth

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of usurping the unlimited wealth of India and of depriving the people of the country of their rightful due.

Talking to mediapersons in Lucknow,, he said: "India has gone down in every sphere despite having unlimited resources; they have turned this nation into a pauper. The Nehru family are the biggest robbers in the world, they have usurped the rights of 1.5 crore people."

Five Indian states - Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram - went for Assembly polls in November and December. The results for Mizoram were announced on December 9 while the results of other four states were declared a day before on December 8.

Baba Ramdev also criticised Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for calling others dishonest.

"I feel it is not justified in this case when a person calls himself honest and patriotic and calls others dishonest.And when seen in another context, then it will have to be seen who will form an alliance with whom and what is the outcome of that alliance," said Baba Ramdev.

The Congress party's poor performance in the state assembly elections may bring fresh pressure for an overhaul of its national campaign, which is headed by Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi is the next in line in a political dynasty that began with his great-grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister. His campaign, focused on the Congress government's welfare programmes, has failed to capture the imagination of many of India's young voters.

While the results are expected to add to the momentum prime ministerial candidate of the main opposition,Narendra Modi has built in recent months, India's fragmented political landscape makes national elections harder to predict.
