'Bad boy' Mayweather facing probe over 'attempted murder' of two 'thieves'

Undefeated American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr is reportedly facing an investigation over an attempt to murder two men whom he accused of burglarizing his home.

The men claimed that the five-division world champion, who hired them to work on his home in Las Vegas, pointed the finger at them when jewellery went missing from his house.

According to the Daily Star, the men said that they were contacted and told to meet Mayweather, who banked over 60 million pounds in 2013, and alleged that the boxer and his staff 'beat the living crap out of them' with weapons, including clubs.

Sources have said the attacks were so brutal the men, whose arms and legs were smashed, could have died from their injuries, although it is now reported that Mayweather believes the men did not steal anything.

The report mentioned that the two men have hired a lawyer to bring charges of attempted murder, mayhem and kidnapping against Mayweather and his staff.

It is not the first time the bad-boy of boxing has had trouble outside the ring, as three years ago he was jailed for domestic violence, in 2002 he pleaded guilty to a similar charge and he also received a one-year suspended jail sentence and fine in 2004 for a charge of battery against two women, the report added.
