One woman died during a stampede at an event held here to mark Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's 75th birthday today.
The stampede occurred when Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav was distributing blankets among the locals here on the occasion of his party chief's birthday.
Expressing his dismay over the incident, Uttar Pradesh BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai said that proper security arrangements should have been made.
"A sad incident, proper security arrangements should have been made," said Bajpai.
Dazzling arrangements have been made in Rampur and Lucknow for Mulayam's grand birthday celebrations today, which has irked other political parties that have slammed him for extravaganza amid deteriorating law and order condition.
