Parents and students in Bangalore held a candle light vigil after a six-year-old was sexually assaulted in a school.

The girl of Vibgyor School on Varthur-Haralur Road, near Kundalahalli Gate was allegedly raped on July 2. Since the incident, angered parents have vandalised the school premises demanding an explanation. They alleged that the school management was not addressing the issue with utmost urgency.

A resident, Smita Gokhle, expressed her anger saying all accused must be hanged publicly.

"I think India has borne enough. It is time for all of us get up and fight against this. A silent fight is not going to help. We need to hang the culprits in public, each and everyone needs to be hanged," said Gokhle.

The minor girl was attacked and raped by two gym instructors when she had gone to washroom.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Kamal Pant, said that police is collecting the evidence and a thorough investigation will take place.

"We are collecting all possible evidence in the form of CCTV footage or the statements of the people who are working there. Some suspects have detained, we are questioning them. We are trying to collect the clinching evidence in the case, and we are in touch with the school management, parents in this regard and all leads are being pursued," said Pant.

Chairman of the Bangalore school where the minor girl was sexually assaulted, R Kerawalla, said that they are cooperating with the police but maintained that nobody from the school management is involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, taking stock of the tense situation, the Bangalore police have tightened the security outside the school.
