Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, has been banned and charged with a fine of 4000 dollars by the country's cricket board for his 'inappropriate gesture' of pointing towards his groin.
Hasan's groin gesture on live T.V. during the second ODI in their home series against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium has got him expelled from the next three matches by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
According to News.co.au, the live feed displayed a shot of Hasan gesturing towards his groin after being criticised by a commentators for 'throwing his wicket away' in the team's viewing area, after he returned to the team's room following his dismissed for 24.
The board stated that Hasan admitted the offence accepting responsibility for the act and has been penalised for breaching BCB's Code of Conduct
BCB's acting CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that Hasan was repentant for his behaviour and accepted that it was an unbecoming behaviour for a player of his experience and stature.
Hasan's gesture has cost him the final in Bangladesh's ODI series against India, as well as the team's first two Asia Cup Matches, the report added.
