A new study has revealed that a cup of tea, high-speed internet connection and a trustworthy best friend are among the "simple bare necessities" of modern life.
Others include a TV set, family car and, for those people who need them, spectacles.
Researchers compiled the top 20 list of the things Britons cannot live without following a poll of 2,000 adults aged from 18 to 65.
Daily essentials such as showers and central heating also appear in the list while, for many, a glass of wine or pint of beer are crucial, the Daily Express reported.
Others cannot live without a solid marriage, full English breakfast or a regular night in on the sofa.
The poll was conducted to mark the Blu-ray release later this year of the Disney Classic 'The Jungle Book'.
