German champions Bayern Munich had left Manchester City stunned with a 3-1 convincing win at City's own Etihad ground on Wednesday in their Champions League Group D clash.
Barely four months after winning the Champions League at Wembley Stadium, the Bundesliga stars outclassed City with an attacking masterclass topped by goals from Franck Ribery, Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben, leading the Champion League holders to its seventh consecutive win in Europe's elite club competition.
According to the Mirror, in an 80-minute masterclass in passing, movement, thrust and penetration, 'Engineer' Manuel Pellegrini saw his side broken down completely, although new City player Alvaro Negredo grabbed a 79th-minute consolation goal for the bedraggled City.
Manuel Pellegrini was appointed by City in the summer in expectation he could improve the club's standing in Europe but this was clear indication of the scale of the task ahead, the report added.
