Bayliss blasts England's 'pretty boys' after T20 loss against Pak

After slumping to a comprehensive T20 defeat at the hands of Pakistan, England coach Trevor Bayliss has lashed out at his team's performance by referring to the players as having 'played like pretty boys' at Old Trafford.

England failed to end their campaign against Pakistan on a high note as they suffered a crushing nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Sarfraz Ahmed's side, who comfortable chased the target of 135 runs with 31 balls to spare.

The home side, however, clinched the five-match ODI series 4-1 and settled with a 2-2 draw in Tests played prior to the lone T20 match.

In spite of that, Bayliss was scathing in his assessment of the team's performance before the proposed tour to Bangladesh in October.

"The way we were going allowed Pakistan to get on top. We didn't show urgency with our running. We played like pretty boys at one stage," he was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

While insisting that his side are eager to win every game they play, the coach called on England to become a bit more consistent if they want to climb to the top.

"The ceiling is still very high. We're still looking at how well we can play. We're looking at how we can become a bit more consistent," Bayliss said.

Meanwhile, skipper Eoin Morgan believes that it was conditions that played a big role in their loss.

"I think they changed quite dramatically throughout the game.With the benefit of hindsight, I probably would have bowled first and chased in the evening - given how much dew there was about. They certainly batted on a different wicket than we did," said Morgan, who got dismissed by Wahab Riaz after scoring mere 14 runs in Manchester.

England will now head to Bangladesh to play three-match ODI series and two Tests, starting from October 7 at Sher-e-Bangla in Dhaka.
