Expressing grief over the loss of two Army personnel in the past week, Border Security Force (BSF) Director General K.K. Sharma on Monday said that befitting reply will be given to Pakistan for their actions.
"I assure that we will give a befitting reply to Pakistan as our two soldiers have been martyred," Sharma told a press conference here.
Sharma said that the BSF never intentionally initiates the firing, adding it is Pakistan which does it first.
"The way they are bombarding the area, they are targeting the civilians but the BSF never targets the civilians at all. We only target the place from where the firing comes," he said.
Last night, a BSF jawan was killed and another was injured in heavy firing in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura sector.
The injured BSF jawan was brought to the Government Medical College where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Ceasefire violation with heavy mortar shelling also took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Pargwal sector of Akhnoor all night.
Meanwhile, terrorists attacked a police post guarding minority houses at Sirnoo in Pulwama, Kashmir.
On Friday night, the Pakistan rangers targeted the border villages and outposts (BoP) with mortar shells and opened fire from automatic weapons along the International Border in Kathua sector.
BSF soldier Gurnam Singh, who was hit in the snipper attack, died late on Saturday night.
Multiple ceasefire violations have been reported along the International Border and Line of Control after India conducted surgical strikes across the border in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
