Riding high on success of his recent projects like 'Doctor Strange', Benedict Cumberbatch has quite a lot of movies in pipeline and the number keeps on growing.

The 'Sherlock' star's own Sunny March banner, has teamed with Studio Canal to pick up the film rights of 'How to Stop Time,' the forthcoming book of Matt Haig, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

"This compelling novel will make for a powerful film that falls in line with Studio Canal's ongoing commitment to British talent, storytelling and production. We look forward to bringing it to audiences around the world," said Studio Canal U.K. CEO Danny Perkins.

Cumberbatch will play the role of Tom Hazard, a man who may look like an ordinary 41-year-old but, owing to an extremely rare condition, has been alive for centuries.

"The prospect of Benedict Cumberbatch playing Tom Hazard is a hugely exciting one and I could not be happier about working with Adam and Jamie, and to be reunited with StudioCanal," said Haig, who was a writer of the movie 'Paddington'.

StudioCanal, which took a stake in SunnyMarch last year, is also adapting Haig's book series A Boy Called Christmas for the big screen, while the writer is adapting The Radleys for Alfonso Cuaron and BBC Films, and The Last Family in England for Taika Waititi and Plan B.

On a related note, Cumberbatch will next be seen reprising his role of Dr. Stephen Strange in Disney/Marvel's 'Thor: Ragnarok,' alongside Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett and Tom Hiddleston.
