Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has refused to add to the publicity of Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography by rising to comments aimed at his managerial style.

According to Metro.co.uk, Ferguson, who engaged in several wars of words with Benitez during his career, caused controversy last month with the release of his latest book, in which he hit out at several prominent figures in the game, including Benitez.

He labelled the former Liverpool boss a 'control freak' who isn't as 'astute at handling players' as Jose Mourinho, while also insisting Benitez's captain at Anfield, Steven Gerrard isn't a 'top, top player', the report said.

However, rather than hitting back at the comments, Benitez said that he doesn't want to help sell Ferguson's book by drawing more attention to it, the report added.
