Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that New Delhi sees Berlin as a vital economic partner and has invited German companies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the defence manufacturing sector in India.
Prime Minister Modi conveyed this to German Defence Minister Dr.Ursula Von der Leyen during their meeting on Wednesday.
Dr Leyen expressed Germany's keen interest in collaborating with India in defence technology and equipment, defence manufacturing, cyber security and maritime cooperation during the meeting.
She also conveyed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is looking forward to her India visit in October this year for the Inter-Governmental Commission meeting as an opportunity to deepen co-operation across all areas of bilateral relations.
Dr Leyen said that India's participation in the Hannover Trade Fair as a Partner Country and Prime Minister Modi's presence at the inauguration had made a visible impact in Germany and there is a strong interest now in the 'Make in India' mission.
The Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel later in the year.
