BJP criticizes opposition for disrupting Parliament Session

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday criticized the opposition for disrupting the Parliament Session over the issue of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's recent inappropriate comments.

"What do they want, Sadhvi's statement was condemned by everyone and she has apologized also, but then they asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, he came in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha and seriously raised the issue and now it's over. I don't know what is their problem now," said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu.

He added that the Centre always invites the opposition for discussion and urged them to use this opportunity to help the people of the country.

"I don't find any reason to disrupt the parliament, and whatever had to be done was already done by the government on the first, second day, nothing is left. Right now there are many important issues to be discussed and people are very hopeful, so I want the opposition to perform its duty and let the Parliament work," he added.

Another BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Opposition needs to understand that Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's issue is over.

"The opposition especially the Congress party needs to understand the country's requirement and current situation. India needs development and if its obstructed then people will not like it. We said we are ready for discussion on every issue, Sadhvi also apologized for her comment, but some people are not able to understand the mood of the country and want to disrupt the parliament," said Naqvi.

Reacting to the massive row generated by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's recent inappropriate comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had last week requested the opposition to accept the former's apology and let the House function.

The Prime Minister had said in the Rajya Sabha that he had already criticized such language at several meetings outside the House, and the opposition must now think of closure and accept Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's apology.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had last Monday, used abusive words to urge voters to choose between candidates, while addressing voters in west Delhi's Shyam Nagar.

Her choice of words had garnered strong criticism from various political parties and caused a huge uproar in the Parliament.

Jyoti later tendered an apology in the both the Houses of Parliament for her controversial remarks and said that she did not intend to hurt anybody by her statement.
