The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday termed the waving of the Islamic State (IS) flag in Jammu and Kashmir as a 'drama' by separatist and jihadi elements to stay in the lime light, and added that such elements have been rejected by the people of the state.

"Ever since BJP has come to power, we have squashed the terrorism. They (terrorists) are fighting for their existence now. They are raising flags of Pakistan and ISIS because we are not letting them shed blood, which they want," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

"They know that there is a government at the Centre with whom they cannot fight. So there are doing all this 'drama' to be in the limelight, we will give them a befitting reply," he added.

Hussain further stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have voted against terrorism and have elected a government.

"These seperatists, jihadis and terrorists have been rejected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

On Friday, the IS flag was waved at a rally at the Jama Masjid in the Nowhatta area of Srinagar. After the black flag was unfurled, cries of 'Jeeve Jeeve Pakistan' were also heard.

Those in the rally later blocked the road leading to the mosque and took to stone pelting, targeting nearby security forces.
