Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and former law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, who was arrested this week for allegedly furnishing fake educational degrees, will be produced before a court in Delhi's Saket area on Saturday.

The MLA from Delhi's Trinagar constituency had been remanded to four days of police custody by a Delhi court on Tuesday.

Delhi Police has claimed that a nearly month-long investigation found that Tomar had not only submitted fake science graduation degree and law mark sheets to register with the Bar Council of Delhi, but had also forged a migration certificate.

He was arrested following an investigation into a complaint by the Bar Council of Delhi that Tomar had obtained a fake law degree from the Institute of Legal Studies College in Munger.

Tomar was taken to Bihar's Munger district from Faizabad on Friday for verification of his law degree.

Tomar, 49, who quit as Delhi Law Minister after being arrested on charges of furnishing false degrees, was confirmed to have passed law examination in 1998-99 from a Bihar college.

The college registers reveal that the former minister had enrolled in it under roll number 10136 during the 1994-95 session.

It was also found that Tomar had appeared for the law examination in 1994-95 and 1995-96 sessions, but did not appear in 1996-97 as he had failed. Later, he appeared again in 1998-99 and got the degree, the officials said.

A Delhi Police team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police S P Tyagi, then took him to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University under which the college is affiliated.

Tomar faced angry students when he was brought to Tilka Manjhi University in Bihar's Bhagalpur district, some of them throw eggs, tomatoes at him, police said.

The AAP MLA from had failed the test on Thursday when he was taken to K S Saket PG College and RML Avadh University in Faizabad, from where he claimed to have earned his BSc degree.

Police said he failed to locate his classroom, physics laboratory and the washroom and that investigation at Faizabad "more or less" corroborated the earlier police findings that his degrees were fabricated.
