Haryana chief minister-elect Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday assured the people of the state that he would work for the overall development of the region, and provide a good, transparent and corruption free administration.

"I assure people of Haryana we will work for development of the state according to the BJP policies and Prime Minister Modiji's vision. There will be a good, transparent and corruption-free government," Khattar told media here.

Khattar was chosen as the chief minister-elect of Haryana by BJP MLAs today under the supervision of central observers, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and party vice president Dinesh Sharma.

"We will see overall development of different areas in Haryana and no region of the state will be allowed to be differentiated, whether it is South, North or Central Haryana. We will see that backward areas are lifted up as well," promised Khattar.

Meanwhile, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Ashok Tanwar said, "I congratulate the BJP for the victory and for choosing Manohar Lal Khattarji as their chief minister."

Sixty-year-old Khattar won the assembly elections from Karnal and has previously held other important positions such as the chairmanship of BJP's Haryana Election Campaign Committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

Contesting the Haryana Assembly polls on its own for the first time, the BJP attained a majority by bagging 47 of the 90 assembly seats in the state.
