Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Robertsganj constituency of Uttar Pradesh, Chhote Lal Kharwar on Thursday called the area police inspector and the Circle Officer (DSP) of police 'Nikamma' (useless) and 'Kutta' (dog) for alleged ill treatment of party workers by the police.
The video of the protest meeting where this incident took place went viral.
In the video, Kharwar, standing amid his supporters, is seen calling the area police inspector and the Circle Officer (DSP) of police 'Nikamma' (useless) and 'Kutta' (dog) in front of the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP).
The MP accused the police of acting against BJP supporters during October 12 voting on a no-confidence motion moved against his brother and 'block pramukh' Jawahar Lal Kharwar and further alleged that the police took side of a mafia in return of hefty bribes by ordering party supporters to disperse the gathering at a venue in Naugarh town where Kharwar's brother was holding a talk.
Kharwar's supporters also threatened to rough up the police and administrative officials in his presence even as the District Magistrate tried to placate the MP with folded hands.
Two days later, he explained that his words were uttered in the heat of moment in reaction to the ill treatment of police officials.
"I might have said something in the heat of the moment as the SP, CO, and Sub-Inspector had frightened me, but whatever I said was only addressed towards those officials who meted out ill treatment to me and other party workers," Kharwar told ANI.
