With assembly elections round the corner, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its election manifesto for Chhattisgarh.

The manifesto was released by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh here today.

In order to lure voters and once again rule, Singh promised to provide freebies to college students.

"All the students of the first year, at the time of admission, would be given tablets and students studying in medical, engineering and other colleges would be given laptops in their first year. This scheme is part of another plan that we launched earlier this year where students of final year were given laptops and the results were enthusiastic," he said.

For the poor of the state, Singh also announced food grains at cheaper rates.

"We would give rice at a nominal price of one rupee for 4.2 million families. So our coverage is much beyond than other federal laws devised by the government," he added.

While releasing the manifesto, he highlighted that schemes to improve the state infrastructure would also be implemented.

"We would have enough monetary resources for the state development, and we will be devising a full length plan for infrastructure which will include railway, metro and road network. With the help of funds from the state, World Bank and other banks, we would implement the scheme for about 5000-6000 billion rupees," he said.

BJP ruled Chhattisgarh would be the first state to go to polls, which would be held in two phases -on November 11 and 19.

Elections to State Assembly in Madhya Pradesh would be held on November 25. Elections to State Assembhly in Rajasthan would be held on December 1, while elections to State Assemblies in Delhi and Mizoram would be held on December 4.
