BJP says India will respond forcefully to ceasefire violations

Asserting that each ceasefire violation committed by Pakistan would be retaliated in a forceful manner by India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said Islamabad must understand the fact that the government has changed in New Delhi.

"Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister of this country, has categorically and emphatically stated that if Pakistan indulges in any kind of misadventurism, then the kind of retaliation that India would lay upon Pakistan would be unaffordable for Pakistan. So, it should be absolutely clear with Pakistan that this is a changed dispensation in the Centre in India today," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI here.

"The political situations in India are different, in no way India would act as a soft state. India would retaliate and has been retaliating in the most forceful manner. If Pakistan extends the hands of friendship, then we will go four steps further to see to it that we become friends," he added.

After two days of peace at the border, fresh firing was reported by Pakistan in Shahpur Kerni sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Saturday.

The last ceasefire violation had occurred on Thursday when Pakistani troops fired along the International Border injuring eight persons, including three BSF jawans.

Pakistan had resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing with automatic weapons that targeted BSF posts along the International Border.
