The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here today congratulated the scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the launch of satellite PSLV C23 from Sriharikota on Monday morning.

BJP spokesperson M.J. Akbar said, "Being an Indian it's a very proud achievement in the field of Science. We dream for India to sit on the Economic high table and we might reach there under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but the scientists have already made India sit on the high table of the world. It's a very happy occasion as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present there."

"Our scientists tell us about the capabilities of our nation every year, every month," he added.

Another BJP leader Nalin Kohli also appreciated the achievement saying, "It is indeed a matter of great pride, satisfaction, happiness that today is a historic day for India's space program. India is one of those few countries that has developed the capability to launch satellites and today five satellites of various countries are being launched into space. The very fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself there at Sriharikota to witness this historic moment clearly is an indication and recognition of the hard work, the capabilities and encouragement for our space program and the scientists who have made it possible."

Meanwhile Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Sharad Yadav also extended his congratulation and appreciation to the ISRO scientists for their achievement.

The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO's) PSLV C23 lifted off from Sriharikota earlier this morning in the presence of Modi.

The 230-ton Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) lifted off at 9:52 am, carrying five satellites from four countries namely France, Germany, Canada and Singapore.

The satellites launched in space include French Earth observation satellite SPOT 7.

Modi watched the launch with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.
