BJP 'seems to be living on another planet' in not seeing progress under UPA: Manish Tewari

After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched an anti-UPA website, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said on Wednesday the main opposition party "seem to be living on another planet" if they fail to see the progress that the country has made under the UPA regime.

Reacting to the anti-Congress website launched by the BJP earlier today, Tewari said those with a "fundamentally negative mindset" do not have the best interests of the country.

"People who are not able to surmount their fundamentally negative mindset are never able to identify with the people. if the Bharatiya Janata Party or anybody else fails to see this reality, then the only possible thing that I could say is that they seem to be living on another planet," Tewari said.

Defending the growth story of the UPA-led Government, Tewari said that the Central Government has ensured that the "instability is a term which has almost disappeared from our political discourse."

Tewari also said that social cohesion in the country has been strong apart from sporadic unfortunate incidents in the UPA tenure, adding "You have not seen the kind of things which characterized Gujarat in 2002. The internal security situation has by-and-large been stable. There has been certain blips on the economic radar but if you look at it in a ten year perspective an 8.2 percent growth in the 11th Plan, when the whole world was crumbling under the deluge of an economic meltdown and the significant strides taken in international relations."

In a significant move ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP chargesheet committee on Wednesday launched its website against the Congress-led UPA Government with the theme 'dark decade of malgovernance'.

Senior BJP leaders showcased the new site at www.india272.com, where, apart from reading the main opposition party's charges against the UPA Government, people can use tools like Facebook, Twitter, Flikr and even SMSes to give feedback and complain about the UPA.

"Launched a website through which people on Twitter, Facebook, mail etc can send suggestions and comments to us," said BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

"Will go to different cities and interact with people, then we will come out with a chargesheet against UPA Government," he added.

"It was new attempt to crowd source with a "people-centric chargesheet" and it would also have offline elements where party leaders would meet people from different groups, like IT professionals or industry, to learn about their problems," said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Meanwhile, the UPA government launched its second-phase of the 'Bharat Nirman' campaign in New Delhi on Wednesday, which aims to publicize the empowerment schemes of the Government through multimedia.
