Asserting that his party welcomes the verdict of the people of Bihar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sidharth Nath Singh on Tuesday advised Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to focus on building a state which does not have to face the same trauma it witnessed during his regime in the past.

Singh emphasized that Lalu, who has emerged as the kingmaker, will be controlling the reins in Bihar.

"People have certain doubts. Time will tell. Lalu ji's attention should be in creating a Bihar which is different than what he had created in his past regime. And we hope that he does it and we wish him all the best," he said.

Singh further said there is a reality on ground that they came on the basis of arithmetic in the Bihar elections.

"The arithmetic has won. It consolidated and, therefore, we didn't get that much number of seats as we expected. It's a verdict, which has been given by the people of Bihar which we respect. And certainly as the BJP being the main opposition party, we will be playing a constructive role," Singh told ANI.

A day after the BJP lost the Assembly election in Bihar, the party's Parliamentary Board held a meeting here on Monday, to assess the reasons.

The meeting concluded that the Mahagathbandhan had won because there had been almost total transfer of votes among various parties in the alliance, and that this arithmetic had overwhelmed the BJP and its alliance partners.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the vote transferability in mahagathbandhan was much better than that in the NDA and asserted that the quota remark of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was not a reason for the defeat of the NDA in the Assembly polls.
