Bob Dylan's Fender Stratocaster was sold for a whopping 965,000 dollars at Christie's in New York.

The guitar, which was played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival by Dylan, was earlier estimated to fetch somewhere between 300,000 dollars and 500,000 dollars.

The Fender Stratocaster was sold to an absentee buyer and the auction house has said that it is a record for a guitar sold at auction, Fox News reported.

Five lots of hand and typewritten lyric fragments found inside the guitar case also are being sold with a presale estimate ranging from 3,000 dollars to 30,000 dollars.
